My Experience
I retrained as a counsellor after realising that I wanted to help people who are enduring emotional distress. I have a caring and gentle nature, and wealth of experience in helping people in difficult situations following my previous career as a Family Solicitor specialising in legal aid cases. This involved helping people with their divorces, children visitation and custody agreements and domestic violence issues. All highly emotive situations that require kindness and understanding to help the person at one of the most vulnerable times of their lives. I am also a trained Family Mediator so I believe that I view things from every angel with a fair perspective. After having a career break, I realised that being able to remain calm and invested in clients who were having a really tough time in their life was my calling in a therapeutic setting.
Since working as a counsellor, I have a wealth of experience working in different settings. I have worked as a school counsellor dealing with the emotional difficulties that children and teenagers face on a regular basis. I have worked within a Domestic Violence Refuge working with both male and females survivors of physical and/or emotional abuse at a time when their lives are exceptionally unsettled. I worked as an online and telephone counsellor for Carers Support, which is a charity that devotes itself to providing emotional care for people who are caring for their loved ones, providing them with the much needed support that they never seem to get due to their situations. I currently run my own private therapy practice, providing help for both individuals and couples who are experiencing all forms of negative emotional health issues.
